Sorry Preetam but I have to agree with the first comment and you truly have missed plenty of good laptops that one could buy for around $500. However, without any doubt your first 4 choices are great and I would gone with one of them if I was looking for budget laptop. Anyways, when you revise this list I want you to add couple of more Toshiba Satellite laptops which are currently the best in market if someone’s looking for a laptop under $500 and so far great work, keep it up. Thank you!

What do you think about Sony VAIO notebooks that come for below $500 and other budget laptops? Don’t you think they are any good? Or what’s the reason for not including them in this post? I have been using Toshiba Satellite PC which I bought few years ago and recently it died, so I am little bit confused here about what laptop to buy.. some suggested me to go with Sony VAIO but I can see that you’ve listed pretty good options here..

Great choices, I recently bought a gaming laptop for myself after reading your post of top 10 gaming laptops and been looking for a decent affordable laptop for my wife and again you didn’t disappoint here.. she is kind of classy and doesn’t really cares about specs so I will let her see the pictures you’ve posted above and she will certainly choose one of them.. so thank you for this accurate list, will let you know what notebook she likes the most..

I have a friend named Shawn who knows a lot more than me about computers and laptops so I told him to suggest me few good laptops under $500 and he recommended me to read this article and he told me to buy one of these and then insert 4 GB RAM. Anyways, I am not really sure if that’s neccesary and I simply can’t understand why I can’t go on with just 4 GB RAM? I have been using my desktop for year with just 2 GB memory so I think it will good enough without any upgrades..

I was really worried since my current desktop computer is about to die, but I somehow stumble uponed this post and I am really glad to see that there are so many laptop computers for $500. Wow, when I first came to this page I thought this article too will be full with chromebooks and netbooks, but I am surprised to see all these standard laptops that one can buy for under $500, amazing list and incredible choices.

I wonder why you haven’t added any chromebooks in this list, believe me they are best devices when you’re looking for something affordable at price of around $500. And also their performance is better than netbooks since its entire OS is especially designed for chromebook.

I’d say there are plenty of better options if one is ready to pay $50-100 more because I really think that most of best laptops in stores cost about $600 and that kind of laptop won’t just be for your simple work but also for gaming.. so just think twice before buying these kinds of cheap laptops and go for a laptop that has some good specs in it.

you’re right mate, there are just so many laptops I have missed, but if you start looking at models and series’ manufacturers have been producing in last couple of years then there is no way to create a list of top 10.. anyways, I have added the best I could and you could look at few more before buying one for you.
