What to expect with a gaming laptop under $ 700?

The graphics card and processor play an essential role in the case of a gamer config, so these are the most important features. However, several other parameters are to be considered.

The graphics card (GPU)

In the case of a portable gamer, the graphics card is the most crucial element, because it is the GPU that will handle the 3D modeling.

Always choose a laptop with a dedicated graphics card rather than an integrated graphics card. A so-called integrated graphics card is contained in the motherboard, it is often just a simple chip for 2D graphics. It won’t handle games well.

For less demanding games, like Minecraft or Fortnite, you won’t need to invest in very advanced equipment. For newer, resource-hungry games, however, you will need to invest in a slightly more powerful card, such as the NVIDIA GTX 1650. This will give you more 60 fps on GTA 5.

Processor (CPU) and RAM

In order of importance, after the graphics card comes the processor.

For gaming, choose a laptop with an i5 processor, at the minimum. An i7 is even better. RAM also plays an essential role. To have a fluid game, get at least 8 GB of RAM.

The screen

For gaming, a 15-inch laptop is the most common. They have the advantage of a sufficiently large display while limiting the impact on the autonomy, the weight, and the price. Also, a full HD (1080p) is a minimum here to enjoy the graphics of your favorite games.

Storage: HDD vs SSD

HDD (magnetic hard drive) is the most classic, but it is now completely supplanted by SSD. The latter has the advantage of the speed and can run your programs in seconds – including launching the operating system and applications.

For gaming, a minimum of 256 GB is preferable, although if you can get a 512 GB SSD, it’s even better. The most interesting case is certainly the combination of an HDD and an SSD, where you get both speed & storage, but this remains inaccessible at this price range.

Transport and portability

It is certainly not the primary objective of a gaming PC, but if you need to carry it around, you should check its weight. Gaming laptops are known to be heavier than traditional laptops. If portability is important, try to get a lightweight laptop under 4.5 lbs.

Top 6 Best Gaming Laptops under $700

1 – MSI GF63 – 15″ HD

MSI GF63

“Powerful & lightweight gaming laptop”

The MSI GF63 is a quite powerful 15-inch gaming PC focused on mobility thanks to a new thin & light chassis. Powerful is the first adjective that comes to mind when approaching this MSI GF63. Indeed, its Intel i5 processor combined with 8 GB of RAM will give you enough power. But more importantly, it boasts a powerful GTX 1650 that will run the most recent games.

Its sober and compact design is another asset. Indeed, it will be one of the most portable gaming laptops you’ll find on the market. So you can both have a gaming laptop to play your favorite games, but you can also carry it outside your home to go to school or go work in a café. It’s not something that most gaming laptops will allow you to do.

So for its powerful GPU, portability, and price, this is probably the best 700 dollars gaming laptop.

Pros
  • Good Looking
  • Lightweight for a Gaming Laptop
  • RAM and storage easy to upgrade
Cons
  • Battery Life Could Be Better
  • Mediocre Audio

2 – Asus TUF FX505DT – 15″ HD

Asus TUF FX505

“No Intel needed in this gaming laptop”

The Asus TUF family wants to delight players looking for a reliable device that’s able to run most games without flinching.

All that without breaking the bank. The FX505DT model fits this description fairly well. With its slightly crude foundry look, the TUF FX505DT immediately sets the tone. No frills, we are there to play, not to yawn.

Almost 1-inch thick and 4.9 lbs heavy, the case is entirely constructed of sturdy black plastic, with successful brushed metal effects. It is not the most portable $700 gaming laptop, but it’s also not that bad.

Asus signs a $700 gaming laptop for occasional gamers, looking for a good product. This TUF FX505DT fulfills its function, with its qualities and its flaws (don’t expect a long battery life).

Pros

Cons

3 – Acer Aspire 5 – 15″ HD

Acer Aspire 5

“Affordable with mid-range GPU”

The Acer Aspire 5 is a compact 15-inch laptop designed for everyday use. It has one of the best quality / price ratio and has all the assets to seduce. From a well-designed chassis, solid performance to a decent battery life of 7 hours, the manufacturer aimed for a balanced laptop that will fit most people’s needs, and indeed they succeeded!

It has everything you need to run most apps and for casual gaming: an Intel i5, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD and a decent GPU, it’s perfect for an all-around device.

On the mobility-side, it’s not the lightest, but at less than 4 pounds for a 15-inch laptop, we won’t complain! Really a good value product by Acer.

# 4 to 6 Best Gaming Laptops under $700

4 – Microsoft Surface Book – 13″ QHD Detachable

Microsoft Surface Book

“Versatile convertible”

The Microsoft Surface Book is undeniably a beautiful machine! The construction and finish are impeccable.

The hinge that serves as an articulation between the keyboard and the screen is very well done and adds a real cachet to the device. The hinge that holds the screen is solid, one of the best of all the 2-in-1 laptops.

As for the specs, there is something to celebrate. It’s powerful enough for casual gamers. Also, the keyboard is nice to use, as is the trackpad.

No, the Surface Book is not the “ultimate” gaming laptop, but we must admit that it has a lot to offer. It’s impossible not to salute its high-quality screen, its very solid construction, its comfort of use, or its autonomy which guarantees a long day of nomadic work. However, we do not give it 5 stars, because there is still room to progress. We would like, for example, that Microsoft improves the temperature management, and that the connectivity gains in variety.

Anyway, the Surface Book remains a very attractive hybrid that has a real identity, something increasingly rare on the laptop market. Read our full review.

6 – Asus VivoBook S15 – 15″ HD

Asus VivoBook S510

“Portable and versatile laptop”

This one looks more like a high-end laptop than a mid-range notebook. The Asus Vivobook S15 is a balanced PC that knows how to make some compromises to offer what users expect.

Despite a 15-inch display, the Asus VivoBook S15 is remarkably light & compact while offering thin bezels in a brushed aluminum chassis that gives it a MacBook look.

For the rest, it is a medium performance machine for normal daily use like office use and movie watching. You shouldn’t stray too far from a wall outlet due to its lower than average battery life, but you will be able to game with its NVIDIA MX150. Read our full review.

Best Gaming LaptopsIf you’re looking for the best gaming laptops on the market, you’re exactly at the right place!

First, you have to know that gaming laptops are expensive, more than most laptops. Why is that? In two words: Performance and Quality.

You see, to build a good gaming laptop you need, at the minimum a decently powerful processor and a dedicated graphics card. Just for those parts, you’ll pay the price of a budget laptop… So to get something decent, you’ll have to purchase at least a mid-range laptop.

How much to spend?

You’ll have to spend around $800 to get a good gaming laptop for casual gamers.  If you’re a more serious gamer, between $1000 and $1500 will definitely get you a laptop that’ll play the most recent games at high settings. Spend around $2000 and you’ll definitely get one of the best gaming laptops on the market.

What to expect from the Best Gaming Laptops

Of course, the price you pay directly impacts the quality and performance of your laptop. Gaming laptops are by definition more expensive than regular notebooks since they need more powerful components, more storage space, better casing quality, a responsive display, etc.

Performance

To have a decent gaming laptop, you need a powerful CPU and, at least, a decent graphics card. Games are resource-intensive and without those two, you won’t be able to enjoy your games.

Processing Power

Preferably, you want an i7 processor to give you the best performance, but an i5 will also do the trick. Only go with an i3 if you’re really looking to save money.

Graphics Card

This is the most important component for a gaming laptop. Unless you’re looking to run undemanding games or are willing to play at ultra-low-resolution, you absolutely need a dedicated graphics card. The more powerful, the better.

You see, most laptops don’t come with a dedicated GPU, which means that they don’t have a specific component to process graphics. So the graphics processing is all done by the CPU… and it’s pretty bad at doing so…

Usually you’ll want at least a mid-range card. This will allow you to play not-so-recent games at mid-high settings and the latest game at medium settings.

If you’re looking to know where a specific graphics card stands, look at this great article.

Display

Gaming requires a good screen with good brightness and refresh rates. You’ll also want one that has good color reproduction.

Generally, you can expect mid-range gaming laptops to give you a decent display, but nothing exceptional. Laptop manufacturers usually prefer to invest in performance rather than display quality here. Only when you get into high-end gaming laptops that you’ll see a display that is really built for gaming.

Casing & Quality

A real gaming laptop should a quality frame with good ventilation. Running those heavy games is very demanding and creates a lot of heat. That’s why gaming laptops are often bulkier than regular notebooks. Having a slim frame is great for portability, but not for ventilation.

Usually you’ll find that mid-range gaming laptops are more mainstream. They are usually slimmer and don’t have that aggressive gaming look with big air vents to make sure the components are cooled correctly.

Best Gaming Laptops under $500

Let me start by saying this: skip this category if you want a real gaming laptop. $500 is not enough for the expensive components a gaming laptop requires.

But if you are on a budget and that’s all you have, we still found some decent laptops that will be able to run not-too-demanding games at low-resolution.

Don’t make it your first choice, but if that’s all you can afford, check them out!

Now here we start talking about some interesting gaming laptops. Of course at this price, you won’t get the most powerful gaming laptop, but you’ll end up with a laptop that will run recent games.

Expect a quite decent graphics card and a CPU that will perform with most games. You might have to reduce settings here and there, but for the value you get, there is nothing to complain about here!

Best Gaming Laptops under $800

This is an interesting category. Surprisingly, laptop manufacturers nowadays manage to create pretty powerful machines at those prices.

Of course, to equip a gaming laptop with powerful components and keep the price low, they have to sacrifice on something. Sometimes it’s the display that not too bright, sometimes it’s the audio system that a bit weak, and sometimes you’ll get a slower hard-drive. But to get a good gaming laptop at those prices, its sacrifices that are worth it!

If you want to play the latest game at the highest settings, you’ll have to go for a more expensive gaming laptop. But if you’re a casual gamer that will accept to lower some settings a little, these devices are going to be great.

What to expect from the Best Gaming Laptops under $800

For sure, you will be satisfied with gaming laptops under 800 dollars if you are a casual gamer. This is the kind of laptop I have and I’m pretty happy with the performance. For the latest games you’ll have to lower the video settings, but otherwise it’s a pretty satisfying experience.

If you are a more experienced player, you can still find a laptop that will run your games, but you’ll have to lower your expectations on other aspects.

Casual or Hardcore Gamer?

The type of laptop you buy depends on the type of gamer you are. You basically have 2 choices.

Either you go for an $800 gaming laptop that has a powerful GPU to render the most recent games, but you sacrifice here & there. Or you purchase one with an entry / mid-level GPU but you get a better display & a more portable gaming laptop.

if you are a casual gamer, go for a more lightweight laptop that has an entry-level GPU. You probably don’t need the powerful GPU and you’ll end up with a more satisfying laptop. They usually compromise less on the display brightness and battery life, which is something casual gamers will prefer.

If you are an avid gamer, choose a GPU that will run those high-demanding games. Choose an NVIDIA 1650 or 1050 – or anything similar – and you won’t be disappointed. You’ll have a laptop that’s made mostly of plastic & that is less portable, but that does its main purpose: run 3D games & apps.

To sum it up, you’ll have to sacrifice something here. The graphics card, the screen quality and the sound system are all satisfying, but you won’t get the best of everything. You can get a powerful GPU, but you’ll have a dimmer screen. You can have a portable device, but it won’t be the most powerful.

MSI GF63

“Gaming Brand at Affordable Price”

You see their name in worldwide gaming competitions, and there is a reason for that. MSI is known for gaming, that’s pretty much all they’re focused on. While you’d usually see their name mostly in $1500 gamings laptops (or more), this one is different. They wanted to compete in the lower-end gaming market, and I must say they did a pretty good job.

With the MSI GF63, you end-up with a good-looking gaming laptop that’s powerful enough to run recent games. MSI expertise allows the laptop to keep cool even when you ask a lot from it, something you won’t see in every gaming laptop under 800 dollars.

Of course they had to sacrifice somewhere, namely the battery life and the audio, but this doesn’t make it less valuable. Also, they managed to make it one of the lightest $800 gaming laptops you can find, something you are going to appreciate if you need a laptop for college!

2 – Lenovo Ideapad L340 – 15″ HD

Lenovo Ideapad L340

“Powerful with Large Hard-Drive”

Lenovo has its own line of expensive gaming laptops, but this is not one of them. This is a good-looking & quite portable gaming laptop that will satisfy the casual and not-so-casual gamer in you.

You get a good mid-range graphics card, a larger-than-competition hard drive, and a surprisingly good battery life. That’s quite a lot for a good gaming laptop under 800 dollars. As the rest of the laptops on this list, the display is not the best, and I find the USB placement awkward – but still, it’s a great choice.

Definitely, the Lenovo L340 should be on your list if you are looking for a gaming laptop for 800 dollars.

3 – Dell G3 15 3579 – 15″ HD

Dell G3 15 3579

“Good performance, but heavy”

In the line of affordable $800 gaming laptops, this Dell is definitely worth it.

They took the same road as some others in compromising on the screen brightness to deliver a gaming laptop that will allow you to play recent games without any problem. So if you like to play video games in your backyard on a bright summer day… this might not be your best choice!

But if you are like most people and play in a normally lit room, you’ll appreciate the performance delivered by the NVIDIA GTX 1050. Add that to an SSD drive and a decent i5 processor, and you’ll understand that they really targeted the affordable gaming laptop buyer.

It is quite heavy though… so it’s not a laptop that you’ll want to carry around every day. You can, but I don’t suggest it at 5.6 lbs. But the good news is that you do get pretty good speakers for that category.

This Asus TUF – interesting branding choice – is a performance laptop for someone that doesn’t want to spend too much, but that still wants a good graphics card and fast CPU. With the GTX 1650 and the AMD Ryzen 5, you’ll be able to play recent games at high-resolution without a problem. Of course, we’re not talking here about high-performance gaming, but as an affordable gaming laptop under 800 dollars, you do get a lot of value.

I like the style of the casing, even if made of plastics (don’t expect all-metal in this category). I’d have preferred a brighter display and longer battery life, but that’s the compromise that most laptop manufacturers make in this category.
All-in-all, you get a lot for your money!

Pros
  • Powerful Graphics
  • Great Value

Cons
  • Terrible Battery Life
  • Average Display

5 – Acer Nitro 5 – 15″ HD

Acer Nitro 5

“Affordable high-performance”

With the Acer 5 Nitro, Acer did what it does best: compromise just here and there to offer what the user wants the most.

What does that mean? They decided to offer an attractive & affordable laptop that gives one of the best gaming performance in its category. With this one, you’ll be able A games at high settings without a problem. That’s what you are looking for in a gaming laptop under $800, and they gave it to you.

But, you’ll have to sacrifice on the display. Sure you still get an HD display that will play games just fine, but it is quite dim. So don’t expect to play under bright light with this one. But Acer has bet that you won’t and that most people looking for an affordable. Also, the plastic design is not the sturdiest and heats more easily than others. But again, it’s a compromise. But it does look nice!

Where I think Acer should improve next time is the keyboard. It is comfortable for gaming, but for typing it’s not the best. But apart from that, you have a pretty good deal here!

Pros
  • Offers a lot for the price
  • Very nice keyboard
  • Better than average battery life
Cons
  • Heat easily

Asus Vivobook K570ZD

“Portable with Gaming Performance”

I like the Asus K570ZD. Like its predecessors, it offers a lot without breaking the bank. It doesn’t have the brightest display, but it’s certainly one of the good gaming laptops under 800 dollars. It packs quite a lot of power thanks to its NVIDIA 1050 that will run most recent games, and it has a nice-looking, lightweight design. Add that to a satisfying audio performance and you’ve got a superb & affordable $800 gaming laptop.

Like all gaming laptops under $800, Asus prioritized performance over display & audio quality, but just enough to give you a balance, cheap gaming laptop.

Lenovo IdeaPad 700

“Good Graphics & lots of RAM”

The Lenovo IdeaPad 700 has the decent i5 processor, but they decided to give a little more elsewhere by putting a good entry-level graphics card and 12 GB of RAM. Those are good specs to play most recent games. The format is not the smallest, but for a 15-inch it’s acceptable. I think this gaming laptop a great middle-ground between price, power and gaming abilities. On the negative side, expect a short battery life.

So here are the top 15 gaming laptops under 2000 dollars. But before we get into the list, here are some of the things that you might like to know before (click here to jump directly to the top 15)

Are the best gaming laptops under $2000 for you?

A 2000 dollars setup is definitely not just a laptop for watching movies. Only a specific group of people will need this kind of beast. If you’re someone from the list below, the top 12 gaming laptops under $2000 are for you:

  • for the Gaming Enthusiast: these laptops are indeed dedicated towards those who need a high-end setup for the visually overwhelming games they need to play. With the powerful CPU and a dedicated GPU, these laptops are for tech-savvy gamers who like to show their skills on the battleground.
  • for high-end CAD works: Some low spec Laptops might work smoothly when you are working in AutoCAD, but to get the best results, a powerful laptop like one of these ones in our list of top 12 laptops under 2000 dollars can really help. These laptops have powerful CPU and tons of memory that ensures a smooth and fast experience in 3D design.
  • For Video/Audio editing: Post-production is always a lot of work and for that, you need a laptop that not only has a powerful CPU and a lot of memory, but also equipped with a visually appealing screen to give you accurate colors and details. And guess what, these laptops on our list are exactly what you need for this kind of heavy editing work.

What to expect from a gaming laptop under $2000?

You are spending a good chunk of money and it’s only legit that you get the best at that price. That’s why we have set the bar high for a good gaming laptop under 2000 dollars.

Efficient and Powerful CPU (Processor)

You wouldn’t want your laptop to be lagging every time you load your high-end games and that’s why a powerful CPU is that important. The latest Core i7 laptops are just the thing you’d want in your dream setup.

Dedicated GPU

GPU is the part that ensures your gaming experience goes smoothly by processing high-end visual effects.  There are countless versions of GPU nowadays, mostly being manufactured by NVIDIA and AMD.

Here, we won’t settle for anything less than the top graphic processor on the market, equipped with a lot of memory.

RAM

RAM has always been the center of any digital equipment to run smoothly and lag-free. But they are quite pricey as well. For this type of setup, get 16 GB of  RAM. 8 GB might work but that isn’t the first choice to go for.

Preferably SSD

A good hard-drive is important for any type of PC setup. The more SSD space you want, the pricier it gets. But getting a 256-512 GB SSD storage along with a 1 TB HDD is definitely worth the money and most laptops here will have that kind of setup.

Bigger Screen with better resolution

Gaming is a good way to feast your eyes. The graphics, accurate color rendering, and good brightness are definitely important when you are playing high-end games. Nowadays games have become so realistic, having less than a great screen will lessen your playing pleasure. That’s why it is important to get a gaming laptop under 2000 dollars that have an excellent display along with a powerful GPU.

Good Battery Life

Gaming on battery power is not recommended when playing a high-end game. That battery won’t last long. But if you’re often on the go, this is still an important feature.

Where most of the gaming laptops give about 4-5 hours of battery life, there are some gaming notebooks with exceptional battery life. For some, you can expect 8-9 hours of battery backup.

Aggressive looks

Although having an aggressive gaming look to your laptop is not as important as having a powerful CPU and a dedicated GPU, there’s no harm in spreading a gaming vibe around you.

The royal blue metal finish along with the rose gold really makes this Zenbook stand out from the competition and that trend also continues on the inside as well. The build quality is superb and is made of aluminum. But Asus could have done better with its battery life.

“Simple looks but Amazing Specs”

From outside there’s nothing much striking about it but from inside it is packed with some pretty amazing specs.

The MSI Prestige A10SC comes with the latest Intel Core i7 processor and is surprisingly paired with GTX 1650 max q graphics, a combination that you don’t see often in such a compact laptop. You can enjoy your games on a color-accurate display.

So it is basically for those people who want good gaming performance but not necessarily on a big gaming laptop.
The lid has some flex in it but then you have to compromise a little with a laptop so thin.

8 – Acer Predator Helios 300 – 15″ HD

“Fast 2000 dollars gaming laptop”

This laptop has a lot of bang for the buck.

It’s fast and can run all the games at their highest settings. The Predator sense app that it comes with is super useful as you can customize pretty much every aspect of the laptop using this app. You do get good customization from Acer, with things like RGB lighting and having that extra number pad. The 144Hz full HD panel offers good viewing angles and gets the job done when it comes to gaming.

The keyboard has a decent feel and the keys are sturdy enough. But adjusting from a mechanical keyboard might take some time to get used to this. The speakers have a mediocre sound quality and I would recommend you use headphones while gaming.

The Lenovo legion Y7000 is made for those gamers who like the simple look but want the best performance. With this laptop, Lenovo goes with “simple is the better” sort of approach, so you get a rethought and basic design and a clean look, without those hideous RGB lighting.

Its amazing sound quality comes as a surprise and its three-sided bezels make use of the maximum viewing area. However, the lid can only be bent up to 240 degrees.

This is not intended to be portable, so it has a very short battery life.

“Portable, Powerful & Premium”

For such a light & thin ultrabook, it gives an excellent performance, fantastic display quality (HDR 4K OLED and LCD), easy to upgrade storage and memory & good battery life.

It comes with new 10th gen Intel processors and faster GTX 1650 TI graphics. With Dell XPS 15, you get the biggest design overhaul to the XPS lineup. It has super thin bezels, a much bigger trackpad, a refined keyboard, good bass speakers, USB C charging, and overall a much sleeker chassis.

But I think this is the hottest XPS so far, so the thermal situation needs to be further improved and the removal of some unwanted bloatware is also required.

Dell Inspiron i5577

“Balanced Looks”

The Dell Inspiron i5577 looks like it has been designed with the modern user in mind and seems to be overpowered for its price. Unlike other gaming laptops, Dell has opted for a more balanced look for this gaming device.

In the Dell Inspiron i5577, you get a faster refresh rate than IPS and it is also easy on the eyes. The video card does great on the high-end games at top settings, with no freezing problem. The charger is long and has a nice power light along with the sleek look of the keyboard and red backlights, which actually looks great. It doesn’t have a lot of bloatware and the TN screen is also not a big deal.

If you are a gamer and want to stream your gaming, then the problem you’ll face is that, with the standard 8gb of ram, it isn’t powerful enough to game and stream at the same time. But if you buy another stick of ram & upgrade it to 16gb, then it will work perfectly fine.

Pros
  • Good Build quality
  • Very Good Processor Performance
  • Good Graphics Performance
Cons
  • Display is a bit subpar

“Fine balance between Power, Price & Heat-Management”

A common problem that a lot of gamers face is that with more power, their laptop seems to heat up a lot as well.

So Asus has tried to solve this problem with their Asus Vivobook Pro N705UD. It gives a fine balance between power and thermals and provides a pleasant experience to the user, without their devices getting heat up. In addition to the processor, the GPU is in the exact same “sweet spot” of thermals vs power as the processor.

The screen is nice, with good viewing angles & decent color. There’s nothing special about the screen but nothing bad too. The audio is rich, bass-filled, and loud, not tinny or shallow like most other laptops.

  • Large & Colorful Display

  • Comfortable Keyboard & NumPad
Cons

What to expect from the best gaming laptops under $1000

For that price, you get a good quality mid-range gaming laptop. It won’t be the most powerful and don’t expect to be able to play the absolute latest game at the highest video settings, but for most casual gamers, the best laptops under 1000 dollars will be more than enough.

Graphics card

The graphic card is the most important piece of equipment for gaming. And also one of the most expensive. Therefore expect the graphic cards in these laptops to be mid-range.

Higher-end graphic cards come at a hefty price tag, so they are almost impossible to integrate into gaming laptops under $1000. Expect to be able to play most games at high settings, but for the most demanding games, you’ll have to reduce the image quality.

For casual gamers, I suggest you go with an ultraportable laptop with entry-level GPU. Like that you have the advantage of having a decent graphics card in a laptop that’s portable.

Processor

While the video card is more important to power your games, the processor is still a vital part. The $1000 gaming laptops will usually be an i5 or i7 laptop.

An i7 processor is pretty much the best you can get on a laptop. But don’t frown upon one that ‘only’ comes with an i5 processor. If that means that the graphic card is more powerful, go for that one.

RAM

If you can, get 16 GB of RAM. For playing games, it’s better. But the best gaming laptops under $1000 will usually have 8 GB.

Not that you can’t find laptops at that price with 16 GB, but it sometimes means that they sacrificed on something else. All things being equal, I much prefer a quality screen than more RAM. RAM is upgradeable later if you need to, not the screen, the graphics card, nor the quality of the laptop.

Sound system

Playing a shooter game while the building blowing up sounds like a weak firecracker really takes the fun out of the game.

Fortunately, the best gaming laptops under $1000 we chose all have a good sound system that will be loud and clear. It still won’t come close to powerful external speakers, but hey, it’s a laptop!

“Ultraportable & powerful for casual gamers”

Slightly overshadowed in recent months by very dynamic competitors, HP reminds us that it is still one of the top laptop brands for ultraportable laptops with this version of its flagship model, the Envy 13.

If you are looking for a thin and light machine, to work or distract yourself wherever you go, take a look at this one. It’s a perfect PC for professionals and occasional gamers, due to its portability and power.

It boasts an i7 with 16 GB of RAM, and a decently powerful graphics cards. This is more than enough to run any programs on the market, and for casual gamers to enjoy the occasional entertainment.

This beautiful little 13-inch, just over 2.5 lbs, all-aluminum, is almost as elegant as the Apple MacBook Air or the Dell XPS 13, and just as neat in terms of finish. HP has built a nice product built on a good chassis. It also has a well-calibrated 4k screen, as well as excellent autonomy thanks to a 10 hours battery life.

Really, a great laptop for someone on the road that needs performance.

“A versatile laptop for games and work”

This HP is a good gaming laptop under 1000 dollars, designed for productivity and entertainment. Performance is excellent for both recent and old games.

The HP Pavilion dk0010nr is equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of Ram, 1 TB of hard drive, and a quite powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 card.

The basic screen is fine for general use, but its colors are lackluster and not particularly bright, which is common for low-cost laptops. But you can still take advantage of its HDMI or USB-C ports to connect an external monitor if you need to do so graphic design.

In the end, HP delivers us a good, versatile, and relatively slim machine for games and work, not flashy and at a reasonable price.

The Dell G3 is a gaming laptop that delivers a good dose of power in a discreet and neutral chassis. Its equipped with an Intel i7, fast SSD storage, and a high-end graphics card, without forgetting its quality IPS screen.

The Dell G3 15 is intended for an audience in search of performance, perfectly served by the i7 processor when you work on greedy applications such as 3D modeling or video editing. The 8 GB of RAM also allows enough memory space for multitasking big programs.

This ensures a highly responsive operating system, helped by the SSD drive, even if it’s quite small on this model.

“Performance & Value”

“Gaming Performance and Value”

Not only do I like the black & red look of the i5577, but Dell has equipped this laptop with powerful hardware that makes it one of the good gaming laptops under 1000 dollars (and one that delivers the best value).

With an Intel i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a hybrid hard drive and one of the good graphics card on this list, its built to power the latest games at good resolutions. On the minus side, it doesn’t have the best speakers and, as it should be expected from a $1000 gaming laptop, the screen is not the best for gaming (but still very acceptable).

8 – Asus VivoBook S15 S512FL – 15″ HD

ASUS VivoBook S15 S512FL

“Great value, light & thin 15-inch gaming laptop”

Visually, the Asus Vivobook S15 looks a lot like a high-end PC, with its brushed aluminum chassis for the most beautiful effect. Aluminum is present on the cover behind the screen but replaced by plastic on the keyboard part.

It’s a quite balanced laptop, even if the Vivobook S15 suffers from the compromise Asus made to offer a lower-cost laptop. It doesn’t have a high-end display like some have, but it is still pleasant enough to deliver a satisfying experience.

With more than acceptable performance, it will satisfy most users because it has an Intel i5 processor and 8 GB RAM, very useful in multitasking.

Since this 15-inch laptop has an NVIDIA MX250 graphics card, it is capable of running some games quite decently.

It’s a wise choice for casual gamers that wants a more affordable gaming laptop that looks great.

11 – Lenovo IdeaPad 720s – 14″ HD

Lenovo IdeaPad 720s

“Great laptop with weaker GPU”

The Lenovo Ideapad 720 is what you can call a discreet but committed student. Without making waves, it stands out as one of the best built and best finished 15-inch laptops on the market.

Its entirely gray aluminum chassis benefits from a mat treatment for the best effect, which has the advantage of not retaining fingerprints. The very wide hinge is both solidly integrated and flexible. The whole is very well assembled and seems particularly solid. A design effort that we find on more and more mid-range laptops and that we appreciate.

The Lenovo Ideapad 720 is a very good versatile laptop and has a really interesting price / quality ratio. Sober and well built, it delivers good performance, lasts almost a full day without being plugged and even allows you to play games in 3D, provided you are not too demanding on the level of graphic details. A model that quietly imposes itself as one of the references on this price range.

Unfortunately, as a gaming laptop it has a weaker GPU. So don’t expect to play demanding games, but for casual strategy gamers, this might be the best choice. Read our full review.

Asus offers a versatile Ultrabook with its VivoBook S410UQ, with a 14-inch anti-reflective full HD screen. It has a latest-generation Intel i7 processor, a 256 GB SSD storage solution, a biometric reader, and a backlit chiclet keyboard.

Graphic processing is entrusted to the GeForce 940MX. As expected, the game possibilities are quite limited and just sufficient for older games, or possibly newer games with a lower definition and reduced details. The gain between the GeForce 940MX is between 15 and 30% and is certainly not as high as one would hope when switching to a dedicated GPU.

This ultrabook is discreet with a fan that reacts slightly during video streaming or simple navigation. On the other hand, the noise increases more than the average when the execution becomes more demanding. All-in-all, it’s a pretty good entry-level gaming laptop.

What you need to know on Gaming Laptops under 500 dollars

The truth about a gaming laptop under $500 is that it won’t be able to play the latest games. If that’s what you’re looking for, you should increase your budget a little and go for gaming laptops between $600 and $800.

That doesn’t mean that you cannot find a good gaming laptop under $500!

Luckily for us, manufacturers have put on the market entry-level chipsets that allow for some decent gaming at a low price. So it doesn’t mean you have to settle for 1991 Civilization 1! 😉 But you have to know that they will run games from a few years ago, at medium settings. Not recent demanding games.

So as long as you understand that, you’ll have to play older games or less intensive games, let’s continue with the best $500 gaming laptops!

What do you need in a good gaming laptop under $500?

Graphics Card

There is one thing that is far more important than anything else in a good gaming laptop under $500 (or any gaming laptop): you need a good graphics card. This is the first thing you should look at. You see, most of the time laptops come with a graphics card that doesn’t perform well with 3D.

Performance

The memory (RAM) you have is also a big factor. Less than 4 GB is not enough to load & play a game. You need at least 4 GB and you should go for 6 GB or more.

The processor is also a factor. Low-end processors won’t be powerful enough to render games, but nowadays it’s not as big as a factor as the graphics card and memory you have. Laptops on this list won’t have the fastest processor on the market, but the top ones are still equipped with decent CPU that’ll allow you to play games.

Screen – HD or non-HD?

Some of the laptops in this list are equipped with an HD screen, some not. Everything being equal, usually if the manufacturer puts an HD screen, he’ll have to sacrifice somewhere else. In this case, gaming power.

Since you’re looking for the best gaming laptops under 500 dollars, an HD screen should not be your priority here. Get more RAM or a better graphics card. You’ll have more gaming for your money. Anyway, chances are slim that you’ll be able to run games at high-resolution.

Battery life

Don’t expect to be impressed by the battery life. This is an area where all laptop manufacturers made a compromise. And I agree with their choice! Having more power is far more important! While the laptops with the best battery life will easily last 10h, here we’re talking more about 3 to 5 hours. And if you’re playing a game, keep it plugged!

Now this one is for the big screen lovers. With the HP 17-X114dx you get a large & clear 17-inch display. And, while 17-inch laptops are usually bulky & heavy, this one is quite light at 5.85 pounds.

It’s equipped with an i5 CPU and Intel UHD 620, so it’ll play some games quite well. And since some of them require fast action, you’ll appreciate the comfortable keyboard that won’t make you miss a move. If you’re looking a 17-inch gaming laptop under $500, this one is for you!

4 – Acer Aspire 5 – 15″ HD

“Good Features but Lower Performance”

This one is a laptop equipped with an i3 processor. It’s not as powerful as an i5 – that the very best gaming laptops under $500 will have – but it’s still equipped with an Intel UHD 620. So it will still run some games decently.

The main advantage it has over most is that it’s equipped with a good HD display & clear audio. Something most $500 gaming laptops won’t have. So choose another one that is equipped with an i5 if you want the performance, but choose this Acer Aspire 5 if you are looking for a better display & audio.

“Great Value & Long Battery Life”

The Acer Aspire E5-575-33BM is built on the same platform as many of its more powerful brothers. That’s gives you a better laptop for your money than you would get otherwise. Especially the colorful HD display and the loud audio. And, even if it’s not the slimmest laptop, it has a solid, stylish design that doesn’t feel like an ultra-affordable gaming laptop.

You also get a laptop with a long battery life so you can just pick it up and leave the house without having to worry about carrying the charger. It doesn’t have the most powerful processor, but for light gaming, it’s enough. A great value choice!

This type of heavy pc setup used to cost a fortune.

Not anymore!

With the rapidly decreasing price of technology, laptop brands have been successful in producing high-performance gaming laptops at an affordable price. Where powerful gaming laptops used to be $2000-$2500, now you can get a good gaming laptop under $1500. This drastic price change has made people looking for gaming and engineering laptops happy.

But their dilemma didn’t end right there.

Before you had to decide if you’d give up the SSD for the sake of affordability. Now you face the dilemma to choose the perfect gaming laptop in a sea of great products.

Some of them have higher CPU speed and some have better battery life. Between all of this, it’s hard to pick a laptop for gaming under 1500 dollars. So, we stepped in for you. Today, we are going to put together a list of gaming laptops under 1500 dollars.

Are the best gaming laptops under $1500 for you?

Not everyone needs a powerhouse laptop for their day to day computer use. Most people will have plenty of power with a mid-range notebook. But if you are one of them below, a gaming laptop under 1500 dollars is for you.

  • For Game Enthusiasts: If you are someone who never misses an opportunity to play games on the go, these gaming laptops under 1500 dollars are for you. You’ll find many powerful laptops with all the best features, at an affordable price
  • For CAD works: If you need a laptop for CAD works, a regular low-spec pc is not the best option. Not all CAD laptops need that much power, but if you do, a gaming laptop might come in handy in that case.
  • For Video/Audio editing: Video/Audio editing and processing requires some heavy software. They can not run properly on an outdated low-powered machine. For high-end video editing, a gaming laptop is a wise choice.

What to expect from the best gaming laptops under $1500?

Producing a gaming laptop is not an easy task. Manufacturers need to put a lot of thought to ensure the best gaming experience for their consumers. Here are some of the things that you should expect from a renowned gaming laptop manufacturer.

Powerful CPU (Processor)

For the CPU, there not much competition for Intel. The i7 is the latest flagship processor from Intel. For a real gaming experience, get that one. Most – if not all – laptops on this list will be a laptop equipped with an i7 processor. It’s much more powerful than its little brother, the i5 and i3.

Graphics Card

This is where you want to invest the most.  For a gamer, this is where you get the most for your money.

With a gaming laptop under $1500, you can expect to have a high-end GPU. You won’t have the latest ones because these are way too expensive to fit in that price range, but you still get a very powerful GPU that will run the latest games.

RAM  get 16 GB RAM

With that kind of system, get 16 GB RAM. It’s the best to run heavy games. Still, a 12 GB and even an 8 GB RAM can easily run games like Call of duty, DiRT, The Witcher, etc.

Cooling

There’s a reason gaming laptops are generally bulkier. Asking non-stop performance from a small device produces a lot of heat. Without proper cooling, performance will rapidly decrease, or worse, parts might burn.

Get an SSD Drive

Everyone knows that an SSD drive is better. There should be no hesitation if you get the choice to have SSD over HDD. But SSD is more expensive than HDD. That’s why most of the laptops come with a big mechanical hard drive and a small SSD drive to run Windows and system files.

Remember, SSD is faster than HDD. So for a better gaming experience, you should have 256-500 GB of SSD to install your games.

Screen size, resolution & quality

Gaming laptops are bigger. Another reason is that they usually come with a 15 or 17-inch screen. It’s more fun to play on a bigger screen!

But don’t forget that the quality of graphics and resolution is important for gaming. You want a screen that has accurate colors, great contrast & brightness.

An HD screen (1920 x 1080 resolution) has become the standard nowadays. But if you want, you can have a QHD compatible screen for even better resolution. But also know that running games in 4k asks a lot from your laptop… you might not be able to run 4k games at maximum settings with a gaming laptop under $1500.

Battery Life

You will find more and more gaming laptops under 1500 dollars with a quite long battery life. Is it important for a gamer?

Not that much… the estimated battery life is under normal circumstances: web surfing, HD movie watching, etc. When playing your games, those numbers will drop drastically. Basically, don’t base your choice on the battery life.

But if you travel with your laptop, a laptop with a good battery life is definitely something to consider.

Aggressive looks

Obviously, it’s not as important as having a powerful CPU and GPU, but your laptop’s look says a lot about its spec. When you look at a powerful gaming machine Acer Predator or ASUS ROG series, you instantly know it’s for gaming.

Top 11 Best Gaming Laptops under $1500

1 – Asus Zenbook UX534FTC – 15″ HD

asus zenbook ux434flc

“Compact, powerful, and high-quality”

There is very little that the Asus Zenbook UX534FTC can’t do. It’s seriously a major contender as the best gaming laptop under 1500 dollars.

Performance-wise, it will put to shame so many others with its i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and NVIDIA GTX1650. That is a lot of power! Add that to a 1000 GB SSD drive, and you’ve got more than enough power and space for your gaming needs.

But it’s not only that… As most of the Zenbook series, its build-quality is irreproachable and it’s equipped with a top-of-the-line 15-inch display that is good enough for high-end graphism.

So add all that to the fact that it’s compact and lightweight and that you get the proprietary ScreenPad, and you’ve got an awesome laptop.

Pros
  • Flawless design
  • Excellent choice of input devices
  • Silent with great performance
Cons
  • Battery life under average

2 – MSI GL75 – 17″ HD

msi gl75

“17-inch Gaming Station”

Now this is a laptop made for real gamers. MSI is known for gaming and this one does not disappoint!

The MSI GL75 is built for the hardcore gamer. It has a 17-inch display that is perfect for shooters, and runs on an NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti. That’s a gaming setup!

With those specs you of course get an i7 processor with 16 GB of RAM and an SSD drive big enough to hold many games.

But if you are looking for a laptop you can carry, you might want to choose another one. This one is not made for travel. It’s thick and heavy. But when you ask a lot, it’s won’t heat up like some of the competition could.

All-in-all, a very nice laptop made specifically for a gamer that is looking for a 17-inch gaming laptop under $1500.

Pros
  • Very good CPU performance
  • Efficient temperature control
  • Full set of inputs/outputs
Cons
  • Poor quality of speakers against competition

3 – Lenovo Legion Y7000 – 15″ HD

lenovo legion y7000

“Great gaming 15-inch”

This is another gaming brand that doesn’t need to prove itself. The Legion series from Lenovo is known for quality gaming laptops at a reasonable price.

The Legion Y7000 is no different… You get very good performance thanks to its i7 and 16 GB of RAM and a pretty decent NVIDIA GTX 1060. This will run most games at higher settings, although it’s not the most powerful graphics card on the market.

Also, for a 15-inch laptop, it’s not the most portable… but again that’s what you get if you want a laptop that doesn’t overheat.

All-in-all, a pretty good choice and one of the best 15-inch laptops under $1500.

  • Nice looking & stylish laptop
  • Great storage
  • Extremely loud speakers

Detailed Acer Aspire 7 Review

Acer has revamped its Aspire line, offering excellent performance for the price. The Aspire 7 is not for you if you are looking for an ultrabook that has a slim design and is lightweight, but for casual gaming, video processing and CAD works, the Aspire 7 is a mighty beast. However, to keep the cost low, Acer had to do some cost cutting somewhere, and that is visible in the display quality and the battery life.

The Acer Aspire 7 unit we are reviewing here is the 15-inch variant that comes with a Full HD display, an Intel i7 processor and an NVIDIA 1050 graphics processor.

Design

At first sight, the Acer Aspire 7 is rather compact and you’d hardly tell it’s such a beast under the hood. And it’s also lighter than its gaming siblings, making it a quite portable machine at a little more than 5 pounds.

The outer case of the laptop is mostly made of plastic with a brushed aluminum finishing for the lid and the top of the base. I do like the look but the aluminum on the back of the lid makes it a fingerprint magnet, so keep a cleaning cloth close-by! The Aspire 7 doesn’t look like a beast equipped like a gaming laptop would. It hides it incredible power under a classic, good-looking & solid design.

The hinges supporting the laptop lid are quite flexible, offering 180 degrees of leaning angle. That makes it ideal to use while you’re on your bed, keeping the laptop on your thighs.

The Acer Aspire 7 comes with the top of the line Intel Core i7 HQ 7700 processor with 8 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU.

The Intel processor is as good as it can get. And the graphic card is one of the more powerful you can get on a laptop nowadays. This configuration ensures that you won’t be left wanting for more power. You can render high-resolution videos and play the latest triple-A titles without any problem or lag issues. Add an ultra-fast 256 GB SSD drive to that and you’ve got one fast & powerful laptop!

But such a powerful configuration means the laptop will heat up fast when under load. Acer has done a good job of keeping the internal temperature under control, so no worries there, but the exterior temperature gets quite hot when under heavy load. The fans also get loud under heavy use to cool down that hardware.

Screen & Graphics

The 15.6-inch display on the Acer Aspire 7 is an IPS panel with 1080p Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080). The display is good for most users, and you won’t find any issues unless you try to use the laptop in bright sunlight since the brightness on the laptop is on the lower side.

The color accuracy too could have been better but nothing deal breaking for most users. However, it’s not an ideal choice if you are a professional graphics designer.

As for the graphics performance, the Acer Aspire 7 comes with a well capable NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU making it ideal for gaming and video rendering. If gaming is one of your priority, get the GTX 1050 Ti variant for even more power. You can run any latest triple-A titles in medium to high settings with ease.

Storage

The Acer Aspire 7 gets a 256 GB SSD drive that will make it boot in no time and make sure it doesn’t slow down the rest of the components.

And if it’s not enough storage space for you, you also have an additional hard drive slot if needed.

Port & Connectivity

It comes with a decent number of ports, including the new standard USB-C port. However, this USB Type C port does not have Thunderbolt support. Other ports in the laptop include:

  • 1 x USB Type C Port
  • 3 x USB Type A Port (2 x USB 2.0 and 1 x USB 3.0)
  • 1 x HDMI Output
  • 1 x Card reader
  • 1 x Kensington Lock

Battery Life

Acer says the 4-cell battery should provide power for ‘up to’ 7 hours, but more realistically expect around 4 hours, depending on the usage. Knowing the components that laptop is equipped with, a short battery life has to be expected.

Audio

The Acer Aspire 7 comes with two bottom firing speakers. How loud the speakers are depends on the surface you put the laptop on. When put on a hard-wooden surface, they are fairly loud and the audio quality is quite good, though definitively not the best.

Overall, the Dolby audio offers a good sound quality for a laptop.

Keyboard & Trackpad

The Acer Aspire 7 is equipped with a decent keyboard, good for day-to-day use. The keys are relatively large at 15 x 15 mm, except for the cramped number pad that may annoy people who use it often.

The keys are well finished with nice touch and give good feedback while typing. The key travel is a bit short, but it’s still not an issue once you get used to it.

Also, typing in the dark is something you won’t find difficult thanks to the backlighting the Aspire 7 offers.

The trackpad is large enough for any size hands and comes with a fingerprint reader making it a bit more secure for the user. The trackpad performs well with precise inputs. It has no major drawbacks except for the occasional misreading of gestures.

Software

The Acer Aspire 7 comes with Windows 10 Professional installed out of the box. There are a few bloatware that needs to be taken care of, but apart from that, Windows 10 performs well!

Final words

Acer really produced a great value, powerful laptop with the Aspire 7.

It’s a great choice for anyone that needs a laptop for CAD works, high-end graphic design, programming or for gaming. Also, if you are a college student that needs a powerful laptop, you should definitively consider it.

The Asus ZenBook UX303UB is a great, slim and powerful laptop. Like its less powerful brother the ZenBook UX305UA, it’s one of the best value quality notebooks on the market.

It’s going to be perfect for someone that need a thin laptop but still need want to run some games and demanding software. With its i7 processor, 12 GB of RAM, big SSD hard drive and GeForce video card, it’s not going to let you down whatever you ask of him.

All that in a compact 13.3" notebook weighting 3.2 pounds. It’s a definite competitor to the MacBook Pro and the Microsoft Surface Book, for a lot less money.

Detailed Asus ZenBook UX303UB Review

This notebook is a mean compact machine. With an i7 processor, 12 GB of RAM a 512 GB hard drive, it’s going to perform whatever you throw at him. With its NVIDIA GeForce GT940M, you can play the most recent at medium to high settings without a problem. You have to compromise a little on the battery life, but with those specs, it’s still very good at 7 hours.

Design

The ZenBook series look all pretty much the same: material, build quality, sturdiness are all very good. In the case of the Acer UX303UB, it’s a little bit thicker than the other ZenBooks, but since it got all that power, it’s was to be expected. At 0.76″, I still consider it a thin laptop!

Performance

In a sentence: you’ll find few laptops more powerful than this one… An i7 processor, 12 GB of RAM, a SSD hard drive and a discrete video card makes this laptop one of the most powerful laptops on the market.

Graphics

Asus equipped this one with an amazing 13.3″ touchscreen that produces great colors and contrast with an HD+ resolution of 3200 x 1800.

The Asus ZenBook UX303UB is equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce GT940M 2GB. This is a good video card that will allow you to do pretty much anything from CAD to movie editing and also gaming. While it’s a good video card that will allow you to fluently play the latest game at medium settings, you might want to look for a more powerful graphic card if you are a hard-core gamer.

Storage & Ports

With all the other features on this laptop, you could think they would have compromised on the hard drive. Nope. Asus put a 512 GB SSD hard drive, so you get both speed and drive space.

Even if it’s quite compact, they’ve put more than enough ports on its laptop for the normal user. You get three USB 3.0 port, one SD card reader, an HDMI connector and a mini display port.

Battery

Up to 7 hours of battery life is not great, but for a powerful and thin laptop like this one, it’s barely a compromise. Of course if you play a demanding game it won’t last very long, but otherwise expect between let’s say 5 to 6 hours of battery.

Sound

The sound system is pretty good overall with the 2 speakers located on the bottom of the laptop. The software – with its built-in equalizers – also helps to create a quite rich experience.

Keyboard & Mouse

The backlit full keyboard is comfortable. It’s not equipped with the smoothest trackpad on the market, but it’s quite decent. Not many complaints here.

I’ve recommended the Asus K501uw quite a lot lately because it’s really a quality laptop that delivers a lot of value. It’s perfect for someone who needs a 15-inch laptop with power but still wants to carry it around easily. With its top of the line technical specs, it’s really a powerful machine and, doubled with its GeForce video card, it makes for a decent gaming machine. All that under 4.5 pounds. Not bad!

Detailed Asus K501 Review

If you are looking for a lightweight 15-inch laptop with a good graphic card at a reasonable price, the Asus K501uw is one of the best choices you can make. Asus really managed to build a great value, powerful and quality laptop. It has great features – HD screen, 512GB SSD … – and they managed to keep the weight low and the frame quite thin.

Design

The brushed aluminium design looks quite good, but it doesn’t really stand out. Just a good looking laptop. The body is sturdy even if it’s only 0.85″ thick and under 4.5 pounds. I think they’ve made a pretty good job here!

Performance

Performance is top of the line on the Asus K501. You get one of the fastest processors on the market – an Intel i7 2.5 GHz – and 8 GB of RAM. For 97.2% of the population, that more than enough (yes indeed, I did just make up that number). That will be plenty to do pretty much anything you throw at him, including video editing and gaming.

Graphics

This Asus is equipped with a good 15.6″ HD screen (1920 x 1080). While it’s not the best of the market, that screen is pretty good and satisfying for that category of laptop. You might get a better screen with some of the competition, but they’re also more expensive. It is also matte so bright rooms are less of a problem.

With its NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M video card, the Asus K501ux is a pretty good entry level gaming laptop and will allow you to do video and image editing.

Storage

A fast 512 GB SSD hard drive. Plus 4 USB ports – two 2.0 and two 3.0 -, a 2-in-1 card reader and an HDMI connector. You’ll have enough storage and connections.

Battery

It won’t win an award for the longest battery life, but they still put a decent one in it. The manufacturer says it will last up to 7 hours, so you might expect between 5 and 6 hours. Not the greatest, but still decent for a powerful laptop.

Audio

You won’t host a party with those speakers, but for playing games, watching movies or listening to music, the sound system is still pretty good. The speakers are located underneath the frame, so it sounds better when it bounces on a hard surface.

Keyboard & Mouse

The Asus K501uw has a full-size keyboard plus a numeric pad. The keyboard is backlit and the track pad support multi-gesture. Both pretty good.
